PLANTAINCHIPPS | OGECHI | KIN—TU002

Plantainchipps’ debut EP OGECHI marks a significant moment in her emergence as both an artist and producer, following her club edits and her debut track “Snap!”, which was featured on the Huntleys + Palmers compilation EP H + P: Clyde Built 5.0 in 2019. While her edits and “Snap!” introduced her energetic, bass-driven sound to a wider audience, OGECHI takes a more introspective turn, focusing on patience, emotional depth, and creative freedom.

Named after her middle name, meaning "in God’s time," OGECHI reflects Plantainchipps’ growth as she embraced a slower, more deliberate creative process. “I realised I didn’t need to rush. Things were going to happen in their own time, and that allowed me to create something more authentic,” she explains.

While her earlier release “Snap!” was characterized by fast-paced, club-ready rhythms, OGECHI offers a more thoughtful blend of Gqom, Ghetto Tech, and Club influences. Across four tracks, Plantainchipps explores a range of moods—from the dark, bass-heavy energy of “Pressure” to the upbeat, liberating “Be Free”, featuring PAIX. The EP concludes with “Changes”, a bold, rave-inspired track that transports listeners into a vortex of sound.

With OGECHI, Plantainchipps steps confidently into her artistry, building on the promise of her debut track and demonstrating a more reflective, powerful approach to music-making. This debut EP solidifies her place as both an exciting new voice in electronic music and a dynamic DJ, unafraid to take her time and trust her creative instincts.
